A downloadable game for Windows

With the 40th GM48 jam coming up in a couple of weeks I took some time to do some art tests. I wanted to see how this style would look, combining low-res sprites with spine rigging to create an interesting aesthetic. I've found that a noise shader (thanks to https://xorshaders.weebly.com/ for the tutorials on this) helped a ton to make the sprites feel polished with minimal investment.


The biggest struggle so far has been working out bone angles within GMS, as the functions available are somewhat limited in what you are able to work with, particularly when trying to translate rotations into the game world coordinates.


Finally, I took some time to play around with particle systems, because I want whatever game we make to have a lot of atmosphere, and I'm really happy with what I was able to do with them here to that effect.


Controls:

Space to toggle a running animation.

'S' to toggle the grain on and off
